Trinity College is a small parent-involved school situated in Poatina, Tasmania. Its 52 students are drawn from Poatina, Cressy, Longford, Evandale, and (at senior secondary level) other parts of Tasmania and Australia. All of our staff are 4 year trained, and 5 of our 6 teachers from 2008 were retained in 2009. No teachers were Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders.
Rates of attendance in 2009 were:
Non attendance is followed up by phone on the day of non-attendance. Doctors certificates or written notes are required for two or more consecutive days absence.
None of our year 12 students were involved in vocational or trade training, but all 4 students attained a TCE, and have all undertaken tertiary study, 2 at university (deferred). Privacy issues preclude the reporting of median TER scores. 100% of our year 10 students were retained. 11 of 15 students tested achieved at or above all national benchmarks as measured by NAPLAN testing. One student achieved 4 of the 5 benchmarks, and 3 special needs students did not.
All parents and teachers who returned universally distributed surveys reported themselves to be satisfied, very satisfied or extremely satisfied (on a 6 point satisfaction scale) with the school's performance, and 95% of the student body surveyed. The most common need for improvement identified in all 3 surveys was for increased administrative efficiency, which was addressed by the appointment of a 0.8 full-time equivalent office manager in 2010.
Funding sources for the school can be obtained by examination of the annual financial report which is available from the office. |
